This Is Not A Test! - Club Meeting 9.8.2015

9 August. The day the fallout came and the invasions started. The day that West Auckland descended into its final madness and the factions moved to their compounds. The lofty heights of WynnMall looking further west to Westie City...and all we can see is madness. East and St. Gates looms, the last remnant of tech in the world. And north, always north...Bestgate, the opening to the Nuclear Shore and its a modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah where anything you want is available....but at what price?

But at what price.....?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This weekend marked the beginning of the end with the start of TCOW's massive This Is Not A Test (TNT) campaign. 5 tables of post-apocalyptic terrain were set out and we had around 15 people with warbands all ready to go. We could only accommodate 10 at a time so there was some waiting....

There was a fantastic mix of different warband types with pretty much everything covered. A lot of people are still waiting for minis to come in, so much proxy-ing was seen this weekend, but given the amount of fun people were having, I don't think that it really mattered!

I have never seen so many d10's being rolled in one place before. It definitely was a sight to behold!

So, I played one game against Dave G and his mutants. It was Dave's first run at TNT and the dice were not kind to him...and given they were my dice....

Dave took a couple of early casualties from the massed shooting of my Peacekeepers but once those Muties got into combat they were definitely a force! I was most definitely lucky to not have as many casualties as I did, that's for sure!

In an hilarious moment, Dave's big Mutie; Big Jimbo, scoots on over and neutralises Tackleberry and his LMG and then proceeds to pick up said LMG and starts hosing my dudes! How rude!

In the end though, the Citizens on Patrol manage to infiltrate MegaTon and hold for a 12-6 victory. Now...on to the end phase. This seemed to be the phase most people were looking forward to. What happens to my dudes after the battle? Will they live or die? Will they go mad?

Book keeping is fun! Unless you don't have enough BS to pay for your dudes....

Dave's mutants managed to get some amazing rolls this time around with upgrades and skills aplenty! My goes, not so much.... Mahoney has PTSD and has to make a MET test to see if he even turns up next time. Tackleberry is stuffed as well. Fortunately, Hightower has excelled and will be levelling up!

All told, I think we ended up with around a dozen games played which is just brilliant and as its a campaign, it'll just carry on!

And because it's TCOW, we weren't limited to a single system, oh no! We had some Star Trek: Attack Wing:

We had Flames of War:

We had Heroclix:

And we had Kings of War:

So many games! So many nerds!

Yes sir! TCOW most definitely is the GREATEST wargaming club in Auckland....maybe even in the whole country!

GAME ON!!!

  1. Absolutely stunning that such a club exists. I wish I had this in the US.
